1. Pubba Sutta.– The Buddha describes how, before his Enlightenment, he contemplated the three kinds of feelings, what was their satisfaction, misery, and escape, and how to abandon desire and passion for feelings. S.iv.233.
2. Pubba Sutta.– The Buddha tells the monks of how, even before the Enlightenment, he cultivated the four bases of success (iddhipāda), and of how their development brought various attainments, such as clairvoyance, etc. S.v.263 ff.
