Kalyāṇamitta Sutta

1. Kalyāṇamitta Sutta.– At Sāvatthi. King Pasenadi approaches the Blessed One and says that it occurred to him that this Dhamma is for one with good friends. The Buddha agrees and repeats to the king the teaching that he gave to Ānanda in the Upaḍḍha Sutta (S.v.2) on the importance of good friendship. S.i.87.

2. Kalyāṇamitta Sutta.– Just as the dawn is the harbinger of the rising sun, so is friendship with the good the forerunner of the Noble Eightfold Way. A monk develops right view, based on seclusion, dispassion, and cessation, maturing in release. He develops right thought … right concentration. S.v.29.

3. Kalyāṇamitta Sutta.–  A monk develops right view, which has as its goal the removal of lust, ill-will, and delusion. He develops right thought … right concentration. S.v.31.

4. Kalyāṇamitta Sutta.– One thing is very helpful for the arising of the Noble Eightfold Path, that is friendship with the good. A monk develops right view, based on seclusion, dispassion, and cessation, maturing in release. He develops right thought … right concentration. S.v.32.
