SÄrajja Sutta
1. SÄrajja Sutta.- Five qualities that give self-confidence (vesÄrajja) to a monk: he has faith (saddho hoti), he is virtuous (sÄ«lavÄ hoti), he has learning (bahussuto hoti), he has energy (ÄraddhavÄ«riyo hoti), he is wise (paññavÄ hoti). A.iii.127. 2. SÄrajja Sutta.- Similar to Sutta (1). With the same five qualities a monk is self-possessed (visÄrado hoti) when approaching (okkanto) an assembly. A.iii.183. 3. SÄrajja Sutta.- Abstention from breaking the five precepts (taking life, stealing, sexual misconduct, wrong speech, and taking intoxicants) gives a lay supporter self-confidence. A.iii.203.
