Parakkasamudda
1. Parakkasamudda.- A reservoir built by ParakkamabÄhu I, by the enlargement of the Paṇá¸avÄpÄ«. Cv.lxviii.40. 2. Parakkamasamudda.- A reservoir built by ParakkamabÄhu I and attached to the river system of the KÄragaá¹…gÄ. It was, probably, in the neighbourhood of Pulatthipura and had many canals branching off: the GambhÄ«ra, HemavatÄ«, NÄ«lavÄhinÄ«, SalalavatÄ«, VettavatÄ«, Maá¹…galagaá¹…gÄ and CampÄ; and contained many sluices: Makara, MÄlatÄ«puppha, VettavatÄ«, DakkhiṇÄ, Maá¹…gala and Caṇá¸Ä«. The canal connecting it with the KÄragaá¹…gÄ was called the Ä€kÄsagaá¹…gÄ. Cv.lxxix.26f., 40ff.; see also Cv.Trs.ii.117, n.5.
