Merukaṇá¸ara
A district in Malaya (in Sri Lanka) often sought as a place of refuge — e.g., by Kassapa, son of Upatissa III. (Cv.xli.19); Jetthatissa, son of AsiggÄhaka Sanghatissa (Cv.xliv.28) and Potthakuttha (Cv.xlvii.58).
VijayabÄhu I gave Merukaṇá¸ara as dowry to his daughter, YasodharÄ, who married VÄ«ravaṇṇa (Cv.lix.27).
The village of VacÄvÄtaka was in Merukaṇá¸ara. Cv.lxx.282.
