Marutta-pokkharaṇī
A reservoir in AnurÄdhapura, north of the royal palace, in the time of DevÄnampiyatissa.
When Mahinda scattered flowers on it the earth trembled, and Mahinda prophesied that it would become the JantÄghara-pokkharaṇī situated to the east of the gateway of the KÄlapÄsÄna-pariveṇa.
It had disappeared by the time the MahÄvaṃsa ṬīkÄ was written (MT.344f).
The boundary (sÄ«mÄ) of the MahÄvihÄra passed through the reservoir. Mbv.135, 136.
