MahejjÄghara, °vatthu, °ÄsanasÄlÄ


A building in AnurÄdhapura, near the west gate.

The grounds of the building were laid out by Paṇá¸ukÄbhaya (Mhv.x.90; xvii.30).

GajabÄhu I first erected the MahejjÄsanasÄlÄ (Mhv.xxxv.122).

The MahÄvaṃsa ṬīkÄ (p.378) explains that Mahejavatthu is a shrine (devaá¹­á¹­hÄna) dedicated to the Yakkha Maheja.
