1. MahÄpatÄpa, MahÄpatÄpana. King of Benares, father of the Bodhisatta in the Culla DhammapÄla JÄtaka (q.v.) He is identified with Devadatta.1 He was swallowed up by the earth. J.iii.182. DhA.i.129.
