MahÄnÄgavana
1. MahÄnÄgavana. An open space in Sri Lanka, on the banks of the MahÄvÄlukagaá¹…gÄ. It was three leagues long and one wide and was the meeting place of the Yakkhas. The Buddha went there on his first visit to Sri Lanka, and in it was later built the Mahiyaá¹…gana ThÅ«pa. Mhv.i.22f.
2. MahÄnÄgavana. A park near AnurÄdhapura. It was there that the relics brought by Sumana for the ThÅ«pÄrama were first received by DevÄnampiyatissa. Mhv.xvii.7, 22f.
