Kisasaá¹…kicca
A naked ascetic (acelaka), contemporary with the Buddha and evidently a well-known head of a school; mentioned in company with Nanda Vaccha and Makkhali GosÄla (e.g., M.i.238).
Kisasankicca is spoken of as one of the three shining lights of the Ajivakas (M.i.524) and is classified among the paramasukkhÄbhijÄtas in the chaḷabhjÄti of the AjÄ«vakas (q.v.) (A.iii.384; DA.i.162).
Buddhaghosa says (MA.i.463) that Kisa was his personal name and Saá¹…kicca that of his clan (gotta).
