Ayya-Uttiya (°ika)

Brother of Tissa, king of Kalyāṇī. He was the queen’s lover and, being discovered, fled from the capital and lived in a district which was later named after him. He sent a letter to the queen by a man disguised as a monk, but the ruse was discovered (Mhv.xxii.13 ff; MT.307). For the rest of the story see Kalyāṇi-Tissa.

For ref. read MT.431. The province was near the sea (samuddatīrasamipe).
