Atthasadda JÄtaka

Taught at Jetavana. Pasenadi, having heard one night a cry uttered by four inhabitants of hell, sought the advice of the Buddha (The story is given in full in the Lohakumbhi JÄtaka; J.iii.43f).

The Buddha tells him of a former king of Benares who, when seated on his bed at midnight, heard eight unusual sounds which frightened him till they were shown by the Bodhisatta to be quite natural. J.iii.428-34.
