AnÄgatavaṃsa

A poem on the story of Metteyya, the future Buddha, by an elder named Kassapa (Gv.61), an inhabitant of the Cola country (Svd.v.1204).

The poem is probably based on an older work (P.L.C.,160f).

A á¹Ä«kÄ exists, written by an Upatissa, possibly the author of the MahÄbodhivaṃsa.

The introductory verses of the poem state that the story was taught by the Buddha at SÄriputta’s request. For the text see J.P.T.S.,1886, pp.32ff.
